Privacy policy
What Travel Buddy collects, why it needs it, who else sees it, and how to make it go away. Written against what the app actually does — if a section here does not match the product, the section is wrong and we will fix it.

01Who we are
Travel Buddy is operated by Meero Labs LLC, registered at 90 State Street, Suite 700, Office 40, Albany, NY 12207, United States. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Questions go to pockettravelapp.support@gmail.com.
Our servers are in the United States (AWS, us-east-1). If you use the app from outside the United States, your data is processed there.
02What we collect
Only what a trip planner needs to work:
- Your account. Email address and display name. The email is how you sign in and how we reach you about your account.
- Trip content. Days, Stops, notes, and the names of people you share a trip with. You wrote it; we store it so your travelling companions can see it.
- Wallet documents — which stay here. Tickets and confirmations you save live on your device so they open with no signal. They are not uploaded: when you share a trip, the documents are stripped out before it leaves the phone, so the people you travel with see the trip and never the files.
- Stamps. The place and date of a Stamp you claim. Stamps are claimed by hand — we do not track your location in the background, and there is no always-on location permission.
- Device and diagnostics. Device model, operating system version, app version, and crash reports, so we can tell whether a bug is yours or everyone’s.
- Expenses. Amounts and descriptions you enter to split costs. We do not process payments and never see a card number.
03What we never collect
- Payment details for travel. Travel Buddy does not sell or book travel. Where we link to a hotel or a ticket, the booking and the payment happen on that company’s site under their terms, and some of those links earn us a commission.
- Background location. The app does not follow you between places.
- Your contacts or photo library beyond a file you explicitly choose to attach.
04Why we are allowed to hold it
Most of it is because you asked us to: we cannot show you your itinerary without storing your itinerary. Diagnostics and abuse prevention rest on our legitimate interest in a working, non-hostile service. Where the law requires consent — marketing email is the only case — we ask first, and leaving is one click.
05Who else sees it
Service providers, each doing one job, none permitted to sell it:
- Open-Meteo. When a day needs placing on the map, its place name goes to Open-Meteo’s geocoder. No account, no key, and nothing that identifies you travels with it. We cache what comes back so the same lookup is not repeated.
- Vercel and Render. Hosting for this site and the sync service.
- Neon. The database behind a shared trip, in the United States.
- People you invite. Anyone you add to a trip sees that trip, including what you add to it and what you spend on it.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined by California law.
06How long we keep it
Trip content stays until you delete it or close your account. Forwarded emails that we could not turn into a Stop are kept for 90 days so support can tell you what happened to one, then deleted. Diagnostics are kept for 180 days. When you close your account we delete your data within 30 days, except where we must keep a record to comply with the law.
07Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — from inside the app, or by writing to pockettravelapp.support@gmail.com. We answer within 30 days. California residents have the rights to know, delete, correct and opt out under the CCPA as amended, and we will not treat you differently for using any of them.
Deleting a trip you share removes it from your account. Where a travelling companion also holds a copy, theirs is governed by their own account.
08Children
Travel Buddy is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, write to pockettravelapp.support@gmail.com and we will remove it.
09Security, honestly stated
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is limited to staff who need it for support, and every administrative action against your account is logged. No service can promise it will never be breached; if one affects you, we will tell you and say what we know.
10Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app before it takes effect rather than quietly changing the date at the top. For anything here, write to pockettravelapp.support@gmail.com — or start at Support if you are not sure who you need.
