Cookies and tracking

Most sites open with a banner asking permission to do things they have already done. This one has a shorter answer.

01The short version

This website sets no cookies. It stores nothing in your browser and loads nothing from anyone else’s servers.

That is why there is no consent banner: there is nothing to consent to. We would rather earn the click than interrupt you for one.

02How we know that

It is measured, not assumed. We load the home page, the privacy policy and the support page, submit the waitlist form, and then read four things: the cookie jar, localStorage, sessionStorage, and every outbound network request the page made.

All four come back empty, including the request list — no analytics, no tag manager, no embedded video, no font CDN, no social pixel. The typeface and the photographs are served from our own domain.

03What happens when you join the waitlist

Your email address is sent to our server and stored so we can write to you once, when Travel Buddy is ready to install. Nothing is written to your browser as a result, and nothing about your visit is attached to the address.

Our server keeps ordinary web logs, including the IP address a request came from, which is how the form resists being hammered by a script. That is a server record, not something stored on your device.

04The app is a separate question

This page is about this website. The Travel Buddy app stores things on your device by design — your Wallet documents live there so they open without a signal, which is the entire point of them. What the app holds and for how long is covered by the privacy policy.

05If this changes

If we ever add something that stores data in your browser, this page gets rewritten before that ships, and it will name the thing, say what it does and say how to refuse it. A page like this is only worth anything if it is kept true.
